अजामेल (अजामिल) की कथा: काशी शहर में एक अजामेल (अजामिल) नामक व्यक्ति रहता था। वह ब्राह्मण कुल में जन्म था फिर भी शराब पीता था। वैश्या के पास जाता था। वैश्या का नाम मैनका था, वह बहुत सुंदर थी। परिवार तथा समाज के समझाने पर भी अजामेल नहीं माना तो उन दोनों को नगर से निकाल दिया गया। वे उसी शहर से एक मील (1.7 किमी.) दूर वन में कुटिया बनाकर रहने लगे। दोनों ने विवाह कर लिया। अजामेल स्वयं शराब तैयार करता था। जंगल से जानवर मारकर लाता और मौज-मस्ती करता था। गरीब दास जी महाराजजी हमे बताते है कि
