Celebration of Eid al Adha 2026

Eid ul-Adha (Bakrid) in 2026 is expected to be observed from the evening of Tuesday, May 26, to Friday, May 29, 2026. The main day of celebration, which falls on the 10th of Dhul Hijjah, is expected to fall on Wednesday, May 27, or Thursday, May 28, 2026, depending on local crescent moon sightings.

The beautiful sound of prayers echoing from Mosques reminds us that people have been trying to connect with Allah for a very long time. Different religions and communities have their own unique ways of practicing their faith, and some of these practices are celebrated as festivals. One such important festival for Muslims is Eid al-Adha 2026, also known as Bakra Eid or Eid al-Azha. It is a special time when Muslims come together to celebrate and show their devotion. Bakra Eid takes place two months after Eid-Al-Fitr, which is another important festival for Muslims. It’s a time of joy and celebration for the Muslim community.

Eid-al-Azha, also known as the festival of sacrifice, is a special day celebrated by Muslims. They believe that by sacrificing animals like goats and camels, they can please Allah. After the sacrifice, the meat of the animal is prepared and shared among the poor, relatives, and friends. In the upcoming discussion, readers will discover the true nature and meaning behind this ritual.

When Is Eid al Adha 2026 in India?

Eid al Adha 2026: In 2026, Eid al-Adha, also known as Bakrid 2026 or the Festival of Sacrifice, is one of the most important Islamic festivals observed annually across the world. In 2026, it is expected to be celebrated on June 6 in countries like Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, while in India, it is likely to fall on June 7, subject to the moon sighti

Eid al-Adha 2026 marks the remembrance of an event described in Islamic tradition, where Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) demonstrated complete obedience to God by preparing to sacrifice his son as a divine command. Before the act could take place, a substitute — typically believed to be a ram — was provided by God.

This event is seen as a symbol of unwavering faith, obedience, and devotion to the Creator in Islamic teachings.

However, the true God—referred to as Allah in the Holy Quran—is someone who views all beings equally, from the smallest ant to the largest elephant. He has never commanded the taking of any life, whether human or animal, for the purpose of celebration or ritual.

Eid Al Adha 2026, also known as Bakrid, is not merely a festival of sacrifice but a profound expression of faith and devotion in Islam. This sacred occasion commemorates the unwavering faith of Prophet Ibrahim, who was willing to sacrifice his beloved son at Allah’s command. However, a deeper look into the traditions reveals that the original teachings never endorsed the ritual of slaughter of animals. Instead, the practice evolved over centuries, often misunderstood and misinterpreted by followers.

By aligning contemporary practices with the holy scriptures, we uncover the true meaning of Eid Al Adha—a celebration of faith, compassion, and the spiritual connection to Allah, devoid of the misconceptions that have taken root over time. This article sheds light on these insights, encouraging a return to the festival’s authentic spiritual essence.

Why Is Eid al-Adha (Eid Al-Adha 2026) Celebrated?

It is said that this day is celebrated to commemorate the sacrifice of the Prophet of Muslims and ancestor of Hazrat Mohammad, Hazrat Ibrahim. Allah tested him and demanded Hazrat Ibrahim to sacrifice his most valuable thing ― his beloved son.

Hazrat Ibrahim Ji obeyed Allah and decided to sacrifice his son Hazrat Ismail. When Hazrat Ibrahim was going to sacrifice his son, Allah placed a goat in place of his son. And, in this way, Ibrahim succeeded in his test. In commemoration of this day, Muslims celebrate the day as Bakra Eid.

Meaning of Eid al Adha

Eid is an Arabic word that means “Festival” and “Adha” means “Sacrifice”. That’s why this festival is called the festival of sacrifice. The day of Eid Al-Adha is counted as a special day for Muslims all over the world.

Giving to those in need is a major component of Eid al-Adha 2026. Muslims on this day, offer financial aid or other support to ensure that the underprivileged are not left out of the celebrations.

Eid al-Adha 2026 is celebrated by Muslims in all parts of the world, though the cultural expressions may differ slightly depending on regional practices. From the Middle East and South Asia to Europe, Africa, and North America, families gather in mosques and homes to honor the spirit of sacrifice, compassion, and obedience to God. While traditions and cuisines may vary from country to country, the core values of faith, unity, and helping the needy remain the same everywhere. Many communities distribute food and donations to underprivileged people, strengthening social harmony and kindness. The festival also promotes gratitude, brotherhood, and remembrance of Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering faith and dedication.

Eid ul Adha 2026 (Eid al Adha): Sacrifice Was Not Done by Hazarat Muhammad

Muslims perform animal sacrifice based on Islamic teachings. It is important to note that these teachings are derived from interpretations made by Muslim scholars and not directly from Allah. Allah never orders the sacrifice of an animal. In fact, Prophet Muhammad or his 180,000 thousand direct disciples never killed any animal. They were purely vegetarian. This arbitrary practice of slaughtering has been propagated by ignorant Muslim Clerics.

Prophet Muhammad never ate meat or slaughtered animal. Kabir Saheb has mentioned in His sacred speech –

Nabi Muhammad namaskar hai, Ram rasool kahaya |

Ek laakh assi kun sougandh, Jin nahi karad chalaya |

Aras kurus par Allah Takhat hai, Khalik bin nahi khaali |

veh paigambar pakh purush the, Sahib ke abdali | |

Kabir Saheb says that Hazrat Muhammad was a kind-hearted pious soul of Allah. He was recognized as one of the messengers of Kaal Brahm (whom we consider as Nabi). Along with him, his one lakh eighty thousand disciples never killed any animal. These all were pure and loving souls of Allah.

Above mentioned lines prove that Prophet Muhammad never ate meat nor his 180,000 direct disciples. Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj tells that this tradition of slaughtering animals and eating meat was started by Muslim Clerics. The story is as follows:

Origin of Slaughtering Animals in Islam

Hazrat Muhammad once killed a goat by Word Power and then restored it back to life. Some people believed that; others did not. They asked him to do it in front of all of them. A day was decided for this. On that day, Prophet Muhammad killed a cow in front of the audience by Word Power. They checked the cow. It was dead.

Then, when it came to resurrecting it, Prophet Muhammad lost his Word Power that he had acquired from Allah Kabir Ji (Allah Kabir Ji had met Muhammad Ji in a Jinda Baba attire and had taken him to Satlok but Hazrat Muhammad did not accept His Knowledge because of the fear of the Angel Jibril and his honor. Because of being accompanied by God Kabir Ji, he temporarily acquired some Power of God, which finished after killing the cow).

Prophet Muhammad could not revive the dead cow. Then, he bowed down and remembered Allah Kabir Ji, chanting, “Allahu Akbar. Allahu Akbar.” Allah Kabir Ji came there. Only Prophet Muhammad could see Him. He revived the dead cow and disappeared.

The above story is also depicted in the God Kabir ji speech-

Maari gau shabad ke teeram, Ese the muhammad piram |

Shabdai fir jiwai, Hansa raakhya maans nahin bhaakhya, Ese pir muhammad bhaai |

Saint Garib Das Ji has written this incident in his Vaani as,

Jab Hamou mohmad yaad kiya re| Shabd Swaroopi Hum beg gayo re||

Mui gau Hum tatkaal jivai| Jab mohamad ke nishchay aayi||

Tum Kabir Alah Darvesha| Momin Muhammad ka gaya andesha||

Meaning: After Allah Kabir Ji restored the dead cow back to life, Prophet Muhammad realized that in reality, Allah is Kabir who met him in the Jinda Baba attire.

Then, a couple of centuries after the death of Prophet Muhammad and his 180 thousand direct disciples, some Muslim Clerics, inspired by Satan (Kaal), decided to make some celebration in order to keep remembering both the occasions when Prophet Muhammad revived a dead cow and a dead goat. They decided to kill the animals by Halal on both days.

Eating Meat is a Sin

They were so compassionate that they instructed the animal to be sacrificed as gently as possible so it would suffer minimal pain. Afterward, the dead animal was left in the forest so that other creatures could feed on it, which was believed to benefit the soul of the sacrificed animal. During that period, many people refrained from eating meat themselves, considering it a sinful act. This practice and belief continued for several centuries.

Later, a severe famine struck the region, and some Muslims began consuming the meat of the sacrificed animals out of helplessness. Many others raised complaints about this matter before religious clerics. As such incidents increased in large numbers, the clerics felt it would not be practical to declare punishment for thousands of people. Therefore, they sought an alternative interpretation and eventually announced:

“Because of reading Kalama while killing the animal, its meat became sacred food. Therefore, they did not commit sin.”

A similar incident took place during the following Eid as well. Gradually, the practice of animal slaughter and meat consumption became established in society. Initially, it was associated with circumstances and interpretations different from what is commonly seen today. However, over time, many people began consuming meat primarily for taste and habit rather than necessity. According to this viewpoint, causing harm to living beings for the pleasure of the tongue is considered a serious sin.

Eid al Adha 2026 (Bakra Eid) Quotes

  • “Ancient humans followed a strict vegetarian diet for a healthy body and a humble lifestyle. Whoever used to consume meat was regarded as a Demon”.
  • “Nabi Muhammad is respectable, who is called the prophet. His 180 thousand followers never consumed meat”.
  • “Eating Meat is a heinous sin. We should never eat meat. Stop eating meat forever”~Saint Rampal Ji.
  • We all living beings are children of one supreme God, so don’t slaughter/Halal them”.
  • “Our Allah is merciful — so should we towards His souls. It’s a heinous sin to kill innocent animals for the taste of the tongue”.

Do Animals Feel Pain When Slaughtered (Halal)?

Yes, animals do experience intense pain and fear during slaughter. Their cries, struggle, and helplessness reflect the suffering they endure. Yet, over time, many people became so conditioned by tradition that they stopped recognizing the pain of these voiceless beings. Some even began questioning whether animals possess a soul at all.

Supreme God taught compassion and mercy toward every living being, whether addressing Hindus or Muslims. Hindus argued that killing through the Jhatka method caused instant death and therefore no suffering, while Muslims believed that the Halal method minimized pain and thus carried no sin.

Kabir Ji challenged both beliefs with a powerful message:

“If you truly believe that an animal does not feel pain when killed by your preferred method, then allow yourself to be cut in the same way. Only then will you understand whether there is pain or not.”

Through this teaching, Kabir Ji emphasized that every living creature values its life and suffers when harmed. Compassion, kindness, and non-violence are the true signs of humanity and spirituality.
