Mahatma Gandhi once hailed Hindi as the language of the people and advocated for its status as the national language.
While it did not achieve national language status, Hindi was recognised as the official language of India, thanks to the relentless efforts of numerous literary figures. Let’s explore the significance of Hindi Diwas, a celebration of a language that, though not officially our national language, undeniably serves as the cultural and linguistic backbone of India. Hindi plays a unifying role, bridging the diversity of our nation and reflecting its soul in every word spoken.

- Let us start by exploring how the tradition of celebrating Hindi Diwas began.
When Did the Celebration of Hindi Diwas Begin?
On 14th September 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India declared Hindi, in Devanagari script, as the official language of India. Recognising the importance of this momentous decision, the country’s first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, decided to celebrate 14 September every year as Hindi Diwas. The first official celebration took place on 14th September 1953.
Several influential figures, including Maithali Sharan Gupt, Beohar Rajendra Simha, Hazari Prasad Dwivedi, Kaka Kalelkar and Seth Govind Das, championed the cause of making Hindi as the national language. It was on Beohar Rajendra Simha’s birthday, September 14, that Hindi was proclaimed the official language, symbolising the culmination of their tireless efforts to uphold Hindi as a unifying force for the nation. Understanding the origins gives us the context of why the day is so significant. Now let’s head towards the purpose and importance of this observance.
Purpose & Significance of Hindi Diwas
The purpose of celebrating Hindi Diwas is to make people aware that unless they use Hindi fully, the language cannot fully develop. This is the reason it is advised to use Hindi instead of English in all government offices. While Hindi Diwas promotes Hindi as a global language, it has also been by significant legal developments including, the 1963 Official Languages Act.
The 1963 Official Languages Act & its impact on Hindi
The core philosophy of promoting Hindi as India’s official language was to foster unity in the country. Ironically, Indians were divided on this matter and it was no mean feat to achieve Hindi’s status as India’s official language.
People in South India felt that, with the introduction of Hindi, they would be at a disadvantage in various sectors compared to North Indians. In the midst of the anti-Hindi protests, the Official Languages Act of 1963 was enacted, reversing the earlier decision to phase out English as an official language starting in 1965. Despite this, critics of Hindi remained dissatisfied, fearing that the law contained some loopholes that could potentially undermine Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru‘s stance, or of future leaders. There were many key changes brought to the status of Hindi by the Act. But the influence of language grew exponentially after the political shift in 2014.
The Rise of Hindi after 2014
When the BJP-led NDA government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, took power in 2014, Hindi began to gain prominence across politics, governance and foreign policy. The majority of communications including speeches and tweets from the Prime Minister and Union Ministers are now primarily in Hindi. Moreover, the Prime Minister has also actively advocated for Hindi on international platforms, further elevating its global significance.

Additionally, Hindi has been given priority in the new National Education Policy. Engineering and medical educational programs are being offered in Hindi, along with education to children till adolescence in their mother tongue too.
Since 2014, Hindi has gained increased recognition globally. Could this be a step towards fulfilment of ancient prophecies of a united world? Or could it signify the arrival of the saviour of the world from India, where many prophecies are centred?
Who is the Saviour of the World?
According to the prophecies of the great foretellers like Nostradamus, Florence, Professor Harare, Dr. Zulvoron, Chiero, Boriska, Vegiletin, Jaigurudev, Ravidas, Surdas, Ramdev Peer, and others, a Messiah will come in the rise of the 21st century and will reunite the whole world. Under the leadership of that Messiah, a spiritual organization will grow all around the world and there will be one religion, one world, and one knowledge.
One Language/Knowledge for All
After the rise of the Last Prophet also known as the Messiah, there will be One Language and One True Knowledge all around the world. That Chyren or Great Saint will be from a small village in India. That Great Man has already incarnated in a small village of Haryana state, India. Tatvdarshi Saint will reunite the entire world and will bring the Golden Era.
The prophecies align with the characteristics of Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj. Is He the foretold saviour of the world, leading global change?
