Millions of students across the country are eagerly awaiting their CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) 10th and 12th class results for the 2023-24 academic year. According to the official results portal of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the highly anticipated results are likely to be announced after May 20. The announcement will bring an end to the anxious wait for students who appeared for the crucial examinations earlier this year.

  • The CBSE Class 10 exams were conducted from February 15 to March 13, 2024. The Class 12 exams were held from February 15 to April 2, 2024.
  • Both examinations took place in a single shift, from 10:30 AM to 01:30 PM on all days.
  • A total of 39 lakh students from around 26 different countries participated in the exams.
  • In the national capital alone, 5.80 lakh students participated in the CBSE Board exams 2024, which were conducted across 877 examination centers.
  • The CBSE has discontinued the tradition of announcing merit lists for the top-performing students in both Class 10th and 12th examinations.
  • The measure to discontinue merit lists aims to mitigate the prevalence of “unhealthy competition” among students.
  • In 2023, the CBSE Class 10, 12 Results were announced on May 12 with the overall pass percentage for 12th was 87.33% and for Class 10th it was recorded to be 93.12%.
  • Students can start their search for guidance from their schools for getting printed mark sheets and other essential certificates, once the CBSE Class 10 and 12 results are announced.

2. To get result details through SMS Service, send an SMS to 7738299899 in the following format:

  • For Class 10 results: CBSE10 <Roll Number> 
  • For Class 12 results: CBSE12 <Roll Number> 
  • You will receive your results via SMS

3. You can download and install the Digilocker app or visit the Digilocker website.

  • Verify personal details like name, date of birth, and school are correct on admit card and records.
  • Keep an eye on the official CBSE website and trusted sources for the result declaration date.
  • Keep digital copies of admit cards, ID proofs, and important documents ready.
  • Reflect on exam performance to set realistic expectations. 
  • Understand CBSE’s re-evaluation process, fees, and deadlines in case needed. 
  • If required, prepare for supplementary exams by checking dates and syllabus. 
  • For Class 12, start filling out higher education/entrance exam applications if not done already.
  • Keep backup options like alternative courses or colleges in case the first choice doesn’t work out.

To pass the theory examination for a given subject in the CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 results 2024, a student needs to receive at least 26 marks out of 80. Additionally, to pass the examination, a student needs to receive a 33% in every subject.

Historically, CBSE results were typically announced in late May, with exceptions in 2020 and 2021 when they were delayed until July. In 2022, the board split the results into two terms announced in March and July. Recent years have seen fluctuations in pass percentages. For class 12, the 2022-23 pass percentage of 87.33% marked a 5.38% decline from the previous year. Class 10 also saw a 1.28% decrease in 2022-23 pass rates compared to 2021-22. These trends are influenced by factors like changes to examination patterns, new academic policies, and external disruptions such as the pandemic necessitating shifts to online learning and assessments.
