Last Updated on 6 March 2024 IST: Saint Garibdas Ji Bodh Diwas 2024: Amongst all the occasions we celebrate, one of the most important days which is sacred for humankind is the Bodh Diwas of Saint Garibdas ji Maharaj (from Haryana). Because it is the wealth of True Spiritual knowledge (about past, present and future) that was granted to Saint Garibdas Ji. Saint Garibdas Ji Maharaj was enriched with True Spiritual Knowledge by the grace of the Almighty God Kabir, He made us all fortunate enough to have a human birth in this prime time of attaining God and salvation. So let us know about the sacredness of this day in great detail. 

Saint Garibdas Ji Bodh Diwas 2024: Key Points

• This year Bodh Diwas of Saint Garibdas Ji Maharaj happens to be on 4th of March. 
• It is the day when Saint Garibdas ji took Naam Diksha (Initiation) from Almighty God Kabir. 
• Supreme God Kabir declared in advance the arrival of Saint Garibdas ji more than 600 years ago from today in His sacred verses. 
• He delivered Holy SadGranth Sahib (Amar Granth Sahib) to us, which is itself the Gist of all the Holy Scriptures and the knowledge beyond. 
• SadGranth Sahib contains the method of attaining God being understood, translated and presented in front of us by the Tatvdarshi Sant. 
• Currently, Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj is the only Tatvdarshi Saint who has been successful in explaining the same. 
• This year, Akhand Path has been organised by Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj of Holy SadGranth Sahib Ji from 2nd to 4th March on the occasion of Bodh Diwas of Saint Garibdas Ji Maharaj. 

Who Is Saint Garibdas Ji Maharaj?

Saint Garibdas Ji Maharaj was born in the village Chhudani in district Jhajjar in the state of Haryana, India in the year 1717 A.D. He belonged to the family of farmers and had quite a huge land under His name. The name of His father was Shri Balram and mother was Smt Rani. He was one of the pious souls who met the Supreme God and visited that everlasting place Satlok where we all came from, in his human birth. Garibdas Ji Maharaj had six children. 

One day, He came with his other fellows outside his village to graze their cows in the open. It was the incident of the year 1727 when He was 10 years old. As per the Constitution of Supreme God Kabir, lord Kabir came and met His pious Soul Garibdas Ji in the form of a Zinda saint. Upon meeting, He revealed His Tatvgyan along with His identity and the identity of His everlasting place Satlok. Unlike His fellows, Garib Das ji took interest in His Teachings and showed keenness to see that place. 

Upon witnessing such eagerness, Lord Kabir gave him first initiation and took his soul to Satlok. He, first, showed Garibdas Ji all the lokas in this Kaal’s place, then took him above and showed Satpurush in Satlok. Garibdas Ji was amazed to see the beauty of that place and of Satpurush. Then, God Kabir in Satpurush form stood up and the Zinda saint’s form sat on the throne of Satpurush. God Kabir in Satpurush form, then merged into the Zinda saint form. Only God Kabir in the Zinda saint form remained there.

Zinda Saint Was Satpurush Himself 

Then, God Kabir said, “You may now go back below and tell your brothers and sisters the correct knowledge.” Garibdas Ji started crying, “God, please do not send me back there. Keep me here only. That’s a very bad place. I do not wish to go back there.” God Kabir said, “I’ll be with you. You do not worry. Look at your brothers and sisters suffering there. Tell them the true spiritual knowledge so that they can also come back here and leave that place of suffering. They went there because of their own mistake.”

Meanwhile, the fellows of Garibdas Ji called Garibdas Ji, “Garibu, come. It is your turn to guard the cows now.” Garibdas Ji’s body was sitting in a meditating position. His fellows again said, “Bhagat Ji, stand up! You became a Bhagat (devotee) now!” Garibdas Ji’s body didn’t stand since there was no soul in it. His fellows, then, held Garibdas Ji’s body and shook it as if to distract Him. His body fell down. They got scared and ran into the village and told that Garibdas Ji died. Both mother and father fainted hearing that their only child died. After a while, they got conscious. Then, they went to perform the last rites of Garibdas Ji. Garibdas Ji’s body was tied to the pyre. 

Just when they were about to lit it, God Kabir left Garibdas Ji’s soul back to His body. His body started shivering and all the bounds (rope) broke itself. Garibdas Ji sat on the pyre. He saw so many villagers around Him preparing to lit the pyre. Then, He realized that He really went to Satlok to the Supreme God and it was not a dream. God Kabir Ji opened His Gyan Yoga. Garibdas Ji, then, started reciting the Vanis, 

 Ajab nagar mein le gaye, HumkuN Satguru aan | 

 Jhilke bimb agadh gati, Soote chadar taan || 

 Hum sultani nanak taare, Dadu ku updesh diya | 

 Jaat julaha bhed na paya, Kashi maahi Kabir hua || 

Villagers couldn’t understand these Vanis but seeing Garibdas Ji alive, they were happy that “even if He got mad, at least God revived Him. Now His mother can live seeing Him alive, else she would have died crying on His death.” And, it is the time when Saint Garibdas Ji took initiation from Lord Kabir and we celebrate this day as Bodh Diwas of Sant Garibdas Ji Maharaj. 

What He Did for Humankind?

Supreme God Kabir made Garibdas Ji enriched with His True Spiritual Knowledge by feeding that into His AntaHkaran when He visited Satlok. He did so to make Garibdas Ji a witness of His Supremacy and that everlasting place Satlok. And then after showing him all the things, He sent Garibdas Ji back to the earth although He didn’t want to go back after examining the comfort there. 

After coming back to earth, He started delivering the knowledge about God Kabir but nobody believed Him. One day, Saint Gopaldas of Dadu Panth, who was familiar with the identity of God Kabir, came and requested Him to deliver the knowledge to him so that he could write it. Upon His request, the True Spiritual Knowledge (Tatvgyan) was written and is now available to us in the form of Holy SadGranth Sahib  (Amar Granth Sahib) of Saint Garibdas Ji Maharaj. 

What Is Special About Saint Garibdas Ji Bodh Diwas?

This day is Holy for the entire humankind because on this very day, Saint Garibdas Ji Maharaj took initiation from Lord Kabir and then He delivered the True Spiritual Knowledge to us. Because this Spiritual Knowledge is essential in understanding the true meaning of this Human life, which is given to us to attain Supreme God as salvation is possible via a human birth only. Kabir Saheb says, 

Manush janam paye kar jo nahi rate Hari Naam |

Jaise kuua jal bina fir banwaya kya kaam ||

Holy SadGranth Sahib contains information about the past, present and the future, about the reality of each and every incident that happened in the past. Various priests and sages tried to understand the meaning of the Granth Sahib but failed in doing so. They are now manipulating innocent devotees with their misinterpretation and wrong way of worship. 

Kabir Saheb Declared This 600 Years Ago

Supreme God Kabir came to this place on earth on the Holy land of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India so as to reveal His true identity in front of His pious souls. In the Holy Kabir Sagar (or Suksham Veda), He declared in advance the name and time of arrival of His 12th descendant who was Saint Garibdas Ji Maharaj from Haryana. 

 Proofs are mentioned as:-

• In Holy Kabir Sagar, Kabir Vaani page no 136-137 (Kabir Sagar, Kabir Charitra Bodh page no 1870), He has revealed about His 12th descendant in the form of Saint Garibdas Ji who had to come in the year 1717 AD (Vikrami Samvat 1774). Kabir Saheb wrote that He will come Himself to reveal the True Spiritual Knowledge.
• In Holy Kabir Sagar, Kabir Vaani chapter Bodh Sagar Page 134, He mentioned that His 12th descendant will reveal His spiritual knowledge (now available in form of Holy SadGranth Sahib) and His 13th descendant will explain and vanish all other false beliefs about the identity of God. 
• In Holy Kabir Sagar, Bodh Sagar, Savsamved Bodh Page no 171, He has mentioned that His 13th descendant will come into the limelight after 5505 years of Kalyuga (which passed in the year 1997). And He will preach about humanity and Supreme God Kabir and will remove all false sects and beliefs about the identity of God and way of attaining Him.

Mahapurush Farman Tab, Jag Taran ko Aaye | |

What Is the Gist of Holy SadGranth Sahib Ji?

Like all our Holy Scriptures (Holy Vedas, Holy Geeta ji, Holy Quran Sharif, Holy Guru Granth Sahib), Holy SadGranth Sahib (Amar Granth Sahib) also tells us to go in refuge of the Almighty God Kabir through His Tatvdarshi Sant (Complete Saint) so as to attain benefits that God gives to His devotees. Various other Saints from the sect of Garibdas Ji have tried to understand the gist of it but failed in understanding so. Sant Garibdas Ji has told about them in His sacred verses:-

Garib, Pandit koti anant hai, Gyani koti anant |

Shrota koti anant hai, Birle Sadhu Sant ||

It is important to have complete faith in our Holy Scriptures to understand the correct gist of it. A Tatvdarshi Sant is the one who knows the gist of each and every Holy Scriptures hence only going in His refuge will help to make our life successful. 

Satguru ke lakshank kahu, Madhure bain vinod |

Char ved shat shastra, Kahe atharah bodh ||

The same is being told in Holy YajurVeda chapter 19 verse 25, 26 and 30, Holy Geeta ji chapter 4 verse 34, Holy Quran Shareef Surah Furqan 25 Ayat 59 and at various other places. 

Who Is the Tatvdarshi Sant? 

Currently Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj from the holy land of Haryana, India is one and only Tatvdarshi Sant present on this planet Earth who has explained the creation of universe in accordance with Holy Geeta ji chapter 15 verse 1-4, Holy SadGranth Sahib (Amar Granth Sahib), Holy Kabir Sagar, etc. Only God can tell the history of the universe created by Him. 

Along with this, He has been successful in simplifying the gist of each and every Holy Scripture about the identity of God and method of attaining Him and has been presenting the mantras of attaining salvation and providing benefits to His pious souls. Kabir Saheb says, 

Kabir, Nau mann sut ulajhiya, Rishi rahe jhak maar |

Satguru aisa suljhade, Uljhe na duji baar ||

He is also the 13th descendant as mentioned in Holy Kabir Sagar as stated earlier. So, a pious soul should not waste her/his time in going to the refuge of a Saint who is none other than the one sent by the Supreme God Kabir Himself.
