Last Updated on 14 February 2024 IST: Basant Panchami 2024 (Vasant Panchami): Everyone celebrates the festival of Vasant or Basant Panchami on the arrival of Spring. Announcing an end to the Winter season, Spring season is a pleasure for all living beings, as temperature remains equanimous during the entire season, neither too cold nor too hot. But then it slowly but surely starts to heat up, as the summer season begins showing it’s strong presence. There are many festivals that are celebrated in India and Several parts of the world at the time of gloomy winter into a blooming spring. These are different everywhere, connected to numerous traditions, religions, cultures, days and various predominant deities are also worshipped. Basant Panchami is one such festival celebrated especially in Northern India.

Basant Panchami 2024 (Vasant Panchami) Date

Basant Panchami is celebrated on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Magh month i.e. Panchami Tithi. This time this festival is celebrated on 14 February.

Meaning of Basant Panchami (Vasant Panchami)

Basant Panchami 2024 (Vasant Panchami) The word Basant is taken from the Sanskrit word Vasant which means spring and Panchami means fifth. According to Hindu Panchang, this festival is celebrated every year on the fifth day of Shukla of Magh month according to the Indian calendar. On this day, particularly in the eastern parts such as Bihar and West Bengal people worship goddess Saraswati, the Godmother of Knowledge, with all pleasantries and rituals.

Significance of Basant Panchami 2024 (Vasant Panchami)

This festival marks the arrival of Spring and is also known as the festival of Kites. On this day, most of the people wear yellow colored clothes. Also, in most of the homes, people cook yellow coloured delicacies. Actually it is believed that yellow colour is the symbol of prosperity, energy and warmth, significantly associated with sunflowers and mustard that grow in the fields of Punjab and Haryana.

However, these practices and rituals are just man-made and nothing else. Nowhere in the Scriptures, it is mentioned about performing all these practices. These practices are against the Scriptures. And those who worship against the Injunctions of Scriptures face decline.

Gita ji Chapter 9 Verses 23,24 states that the devotees who worship other Deities except the Puran Brahm (Kabir Sahib Ji) are against the Scriptures. They will suffer in hell and the birth in 84 lakh life forms.

Story of Basant Panchami (Vasant Panchami)

On Basant Panchami 2024 (Vasant Panchami), at different places, people worship goddess Saraswati. She is the daughter of Brahma ji (the eldest son of Kaal and Durga) and is considered as the goddess of knowledge, wisdom and art. As per Hindu mythology, Saraswati had appeared from the mouth of Brahma on the fifth day of the bright fortnight of the Magh month. Because of this reason, it has become a ritual to worship Saraswati on Basant Panchami. In ignorance, devotees believe that one should worship her on this day to please goddess Saraswati.  But this is wrong because a person gets only that much in their life as it is written in his destiny by Dharmrai until they worship Supreme God Kabir.

Basant Panchami Is Considered Auspicious for Learners

The festival of Basant Panchami (Vasant Panchami) is considered auspicious for children because the school organizes various cultural programs in which students participate. This helps them to bring out their hidden talent as well. The several programmes that have  songs and performances that are especially devoted to the Spring season or Basant and goddess Saraswati are performed. But, there is no alternative to the Worship of the Supreme God.

No Emphasis on Girls Education

In earlier times, there was no emphasis on girls’ education. Ironically, on one hand Indians worshiped goddess Saraswati who is herself a woman. On the other hand, the girls and women in the families were not allowed to go out to study and follow their passion. It was as if the human mind was buried under the veil of ignorance, which had just begun to rise a few decades ago. Whether one believes it or not, all this has happened only by the grace of Almighty Kabir Sahib Ji.

All the darkness surrounding the human soul is beginning to see the light of a new dawn of consciousness. There is a big reason behind why education has become so important now, which is clearly mentioned with proof, in the Sacred book “Gyan Ganga, a Pandora box of true spiritual knowledge or Tatvagyan based on all scriptures, which has been opened for us by the grace of Jagatguru Tattvadarshi Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj.

Deities Also Worship God Kabir Sahib

Basant Panchami 2024 (Vasant Panchami): There are thirty three crores of gods and Goddesses worshiped in every nook and corner of India and the world by all races and creeds of human beings, who have actually forgotten the Supreme Power (Kabir Saheb). Though, all these deities also worship the One Almighty Kabir Saheb. This strange phenomena is due to the memory lapse and false subjugation of the soul by Kaal or the Devil and his illusion (Mayajaal) consisting of the Aadi Maya or Durga and their three sons, Brahma Vishnu and Mahesh.

Now as we all are educated, we can decipher fact from fiction and begin understanding Who is the One Supreme God and what is written in our scriptures about Him. The fact is that, it is not actually the goddess Saraswati who imparts knowledge but it is exclusively the One Supreme (Kabir Saheb).

Aim of the Soul is forgotten

Human beings have forgotten the most essential aim of taking a birth in this human body and are wasting time in decking themselves up, e.g. with yellow coloured clothes on Basant Panchami. It has been stated by Kabir Sahib that a devotee should not fall into these false practices which are nowhere mentioned in our scriptures.

The main aim of human beings is to attain salvation (Moksha) by practicing True worship which is scripture based. Almighty Kabir Saheb says in His verse that one should take Naam Diksha (initiation) from a Tatvagyani or an Enlightened Guru. Without it (the secret threefold mantra) the purpose of the soul getting this precious human birth is futile. It is as futile as a farmer preparing the field for the next crop, then leaving it without sowing seeds.

Naam bina soona nagar, Padya sakal mein shor|

Loot na looti bandagi, Ho gaya hansa bhor||

Adli aarti adal ajooni, Naam bina hai kaya sooni|

Jhoothi kaya khaal luhaara, Ila pingla sushman dwara||

It actually does not matter whether one consumes yellow coloured delicacies on Basant Panchami or not. There is no real logic behind it, as it is nowhere mentioned in our scriptures to do so. One should thus, avoid following such false practices which are against our religious scriptures and should take the refuge of a True Saint, to learn and decipher what the scriptures are actually telling us, the Tatvagyan or deep spiritual knowledge hidden in our holy texts.

Supreme God Kabir Saheb mentions that right now you are enjoying this delicious food, the physical strength, power and position as a human, but after becoming an animal in the next birth, you might even have to eat the faeces from the streets.

Nar se fir pashuva keejae, Gadha-bael banayi|

Chappan bhog kahan mann baure, Kitte kuradi charne jaai ||

The narrator of Holy Gita ji states in Chapter 4 Verse 34 that in order to attain Supreme God, one should find a Tattvadarshi Saint.

Who Is the One Supreme Whom We All Should Worship?

Knowledge about the One Supreme and His way of worship is clearly mentioned in our scriptures. There is clear evidence that the One True God is none other than Kabir Sahib Ji. Moreover, it is validated by Saint Garibdas, Guru Nanak, Saint Dharamdas and many other saints who have themselves seen the Satpurush/ Parameshwar/ Akaal Purush/ Aadi Raam (i.e. Kabir Saheb) sitting on His throne in Satlok/Sachkhand/Amarlok/Shashvat lok.

Saint Garibdas has glorified the beauty of Satpurush in His verses. He mentions that only Kabir Sahib is the One Supreme Power who has created the Universe and only by following Him one can attain True knowledge about the One True path that will lead to Supreme Salvation (Poorn Moksh).

Bhagavad Gita Adhyay no. 15 Shlok no. 4 states that one should search for that Supreme God in the Supreme state who is the One who created this Universe and all souls. Once the pious souls, through true worship, can cut through the web of previous sins which are the main hurdles in attaining salvation, they do not return to these lower worlds of Kaal.

Attributes of a True Saint

The principal attribute of a True Saint is that He describes the true way of living of this totally fragile and temporary human life and the pathway to attain true salvation (Poorn Moksh). The Tatvgyan or True Spiritual knowledge given by Him is proven from all religious scriptures.

Saint Garibdas ji has mentioned the same in His Verses that the True Saint would have complete knowledge of all the holy scriptures:

Satguru ke lakshan kahoon, Madhure baen vinod|

Chaar ved shat shastr, Kahae athaara bodh||

And true to the words of Garibdas ji, Tatvdarshi Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj is the only one who has explained the true essence and hidden knowledge in all Scriptures, 4 Vedas, 6 Shastras and 18 Puranas.  Oh, pious Souls, without wasting a single moment, make true efforts to understand this precious knowledge and take Naam Diksha (Initiation) from Saint Rampal Ji Maharaj. It is only through this True path the soul can return to the Eternal Kingdom and attain freedom from the clutches of Kaal Niranjan/ the Devil by finally cutting through all the illusions created because of his Mayajaal.
