RRB NTPC 2020 Exam: RRB NTPC Exams from December 15 in CBT Mode
Railway Minister Piyush Goyal informed through a tweet on Saturday. The Indian Railways will start the pending recruitment exams for several posts, including the much-awaited RRB NTPC exams from December 15 in computer-based tests (CBT) mode.
The Ministry of Railways has advertised for 140640 vacancies and it has received more than 24.2 million applications. The board has scrutinized all applications and will conduct the exams soon. The board could not complete the exams due to the coronavirus pandemic situation. Since the Supreme Court of India has allowed organizing the NEET and JEE exams smoothly; therefore, Railways decided to conduct these examinations from December 15. RRB release said that it would announce the examination schedule very soon.
“For the examination, CBT exams were to be conducted, but due to Covid-19 situation that could not be held. As we are observing that the NEET and JEE exams are being conducted smoothly in the country, we have decided to conduct the CBT from December 15, 2020. A detailed schedule has been prepared, which will be made public very soon,”.

RRB NTPC 2020 Exam: Categories of Exams
All these vacancies combine for more than 140 thousand altogether in different categories. The board will hold recruitment exams for three types –
- I. Non-technical popular category
- II. Isolated and ministerial category
- III. Level one employee categories
RRB NTPC 2020 Exam: Number of Vacancies in each Category
RRB has declared the numbers of vacancies in all three categories
A) NTPC (Nontechnical Popular Categories)
- The job of a guard, office clerk, commercial clerk, etc
- Vacancies- 35,208
B) The isolated and ministerial type
- The job at the post of a stenographer and equivalent
- Vacancies- 1,663
C) Level 1 position comprises
- The job of track maintainers, pointsman, etc
- Vacancies- 1,03,769
Covid-19 Protocols Prescribed
The release from the Ministry of Railways further stated that they had prepared SOPs for the conduct of examination of this magnitude. In the event of a Coronavirus outbreak, it will follow norms of social distancing and other protocols prescribed by the various Central and State authorities that are essential in the interest of candidates’ safety.
Phases of Examination RRB NTPC 2020
Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) will conduct NTPC recruitment exam in three phases —
- Computer-based tests (CBT 1)
- Computer-based tests (CBT 2)
- An interview.
RRB NTPC 2020 Exam: RRB-NTPC Exam the Most Awaited since March 2019
RRB had notified the RRB-NTPC exam in March 2019, with an estimated of candidates of 12.6 million (12,630,885) applied for the NTPC recruitment examination. Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) had informed that it is proposing to conduct the exam for NTPC recruitment after the lockdown, but the dates were yet to announce. Initially, the exam process was scheduled to be completed tentatively between June to September 2019 for filling a total of 35,208 positions.
