Petrol-Diesel Price: Central Government’s Deepawali Relief That Brought Relief To The Common Man

The rising price of petrol and diesel on the occasion of Deepawali has brought relief to the common man. Several states have reduced taxes after the Central government reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel. This has now reduced the price of petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 per liter respectively. One side government ministers and its supporters have applauded the price slash. On the other hand, the opposition is taunting the government for playing a gimmick as petrol has become costlier by Rs 8.15 in the last 26 days.

Many States Reduced Taxes

Several states have reduced taxes after the Central government reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel. This has now reduced the price of petrol and diesel substantially. States like Goa, Bihar, Sikkim, Karnataka, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Tripura, and Manipur have declared tax slashes. The UP government has announced a reduction in VAT on petrol and diesel by Rs 12 per liter. The Sikkim government announced a reduction in VAT on petrol and diesel by Rs 7 with immediate effect. The Bihar government has made the lowest cut.

The Government of Assam has also decided to decrease the VAT on diesel and petrol to Rs 7. Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has announced reduction in VAT on petrol by Rs 10.20 and VAT on diesel by Rs 15.22 per liter. Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga tweeted that VAT on petrol and diesel will be reduced by 7 rupees with immediate effect. The Karnataka government has also announced a reduction of 7 rupees in VAT on petrol and diesel.  Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jairam Thakur announced that the state government will soon issue a notification to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel.

Petrol-Diesel Price Reduced On 04 November: Congress Reacted Positively

Central minister Hardev Puri and Piyush Goyal gave credit to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the decision and said the move will benefit the common people, further boost consumption and boost our economy. Though the Congress has welcomed the government’s decision, it has also taunted the government’s move under threat of loss of election.
