KOLKATA, August 23, 2024: East Kolkata Township witnessed yet another shocking incident on Wednesday morning when a woman’s dead body was found lying in the bushes of the Anandapur area. In the case of the woman, there were several injury marks on her body and she was fully saturated with blood hence the police concluded that she had been killed.
Apparently, local residents discovered the body and, so, informed the police. They argued that the woman was not a resident of the township setting speculations that she could have been killed elsewhere before her body dumped in the said township. The police have not identified the victim albeit they are out searching the nearby security cameras to get more information at this time.
The discovery has been made at a time when Kolkata is already in shock over the rape and murder of woman doctor at R. G. Kar Medical College and Hospital. The latest crime that occurred in Anandapur has made the residents more fearful as they pointed that the place is dark and most of the time deserted making it vulnerable of any criminal attack.
“They also complained of lack of neon signs especially at night so this area becomes unsafe.” Said one of the respondent. From official sources, it is still presently unclear if there are any persons of interest that have been apprehended in connection with the incident.
This is not the first time the area has borne witness to violent crimes. Not long ago, on July 26, a local promoter named Arif Khan was attacked with a sharp weapon and was declared dead at Calcutta Medical College. The police have arrested Mohammad Zakir in connection with this case also.
Authorities have urged the community to cooperate with the police in any way possible as the investigation into the woman’s death continues.
