What is Anant Chaturdashi?

Anant Chaturdashi 2025 falls on the Chaturdashi of the Shukla Paksha in the Bhadrapada. Anant Chaturdashi is also known as Anant Chaudas. The people show their respect to the eternal form of Lord Vishnu by observing fast on this day. The Chaturmas is currently underway. The worship of Lord Vishnu in Chaturmas is of importance according to prevailing knowledge in the society. On this day, people also perform the immersion of Lord Ganesh that increases the significance of this festival for them. This time Anant Chaturdashi’s fast falls on September 6, Saturday.

However, there is a wrong belief that observing this fast guarantees a place in Vishnu Lok. The people celebrate the festival in many states of India with great fanfare. Interestingly, this practice is not in accordance with holy scriptures.

Anant Chaturdashi 2025: Status of Anant Chaturdashi

Anant Chaturdashi carries the tradition of tying up an Anant Sutra (thread). There is a belief about the Anant Chaturdashi that Lord Vishnu exists in the Anant Sutra. The devotees strap Anant Sutra on Anant Chaturdashi after worshipping Lord Vishnu. According to the prevailing knowledge in the society, before wearing an Anant Sutra, one is supposed to know that the Anant Sutra should have 14 knots because 14 knots relate to 14 Lokas.

The belief is that there are 14 Lokas in the physical world, including Bhurlok, Bhuvarlok, Swarlok, Mahrlok, Janlok, Taplok, Brahmlok, Attal, Vital, Satal, Rasatal, Talatal, Mahatal, and Patal Lok. Hence, each knot in the Anant Sutra represents a Lok. However, this practice is opposite to the injunctions of spiritual texts so it is useless.

2025 Anant Chaturdashi Celebration Date and Time

According to Panchang, on Anant Chaturdashi, rituals start after bathing in the morning on the Chaturdashi Tithi. People use the favorite things of Lord Vishnu on this day. Since Lord Vishnu is very fond of the yellow color, yellow items are prominently used in the rituals.

Ganpati Visarjan 2025: Day of Immersion of Lord Ganesha

Anant Chaturdashi is a day of farewell to Ganpati Bappa from homes and community places. Anant Chaturdashi has a tradition of immersion of Vighnaharta Ganesa. On this day, the households and the communities immerse the Ganesh murti. During Ganpati idols immersion, the rituals followed in the same way as those followed during the Ganesh murti establishment on Ganesh Chaturthi. After the ten-day-long establishment of Ganesh Murti, the host devotee immerses Ganesh god on the eleventh day. The people celebrate this with great zeal and devotees create beautiful Ganpati decorations for the occasion.

Devotion opposite to Scriptures do not yield Favorable Outcomes

If we do not practice according to the scriptures, we will inevitably face the destined sufferings. Doing scripture-defined devotion eliminates all kinds of sins. Here’s what the Bhagavad Gita has says:

  • The worship of deities of all three Gunas viz Rajogun-Brahma, Satogun-Vishnu, Tamogun-Shiva, and ghosts or ancestors is not acceptable, as is evidenced in the Bhagavad Gita 7:12-15, 20-23, 9:25.
  • It is futile to worship by fasting that makes devotion fail, as evidenced in the Bhagavad Gita 6:16.
  • Those who do not perform Sat-Bhakti, Yagya- Hawan, etc. according to the complete Guru and the Scriptures do not achieve the desired fruit, proof is in the Bhagavad Gita 3:12.
  • According to the Bhagavad Gita 16:23, those who perform arbitrary practices by abandoning the scriptures neither receive happiness nor attain salvation.

What is Scripture Based Devotion?

The Bhagavad Gita 17:23-28 indicates the complete mantra, which, according to the Tatvdarshi Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj, yields the anticipated benefit and Salvation. The “Om-Tat-Sat” of attaining the Supreme God is the three Names of the Mantras, which are symbolic, but the enlightened Saint explains the correct recitation.

Take Mantra Naam Diksha from Tatvdarshi Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj

At present, Sant Rampal Ji Maharaj is the only Enlightened in the universe who can provide true spiritual knowledge and devotion to help souls reach the Eternal Abode, Satlok. He is the Eternal God, who bestows peace, happiness, and Salvation. True joys and Salvation are possible only by going to the shelter of the Tatvadarshi Saint. So, take initiation (Naam Disha)  from Satguru Rampal Ji Maharaj, practice devotion in the prescribed way and obey all His instructions.
